SCOTTSBURG, Ind. - The developers of a proposed wood-burning biomass power plant in southern Indiana say they want to build two other similar plants in the state.

Liberty Green Renewables had already proposed a $90 million plant near Milltown in Crawford County that some residents oppose because of concerns about its environmental impact.

Recently, it unveiled plans for a $100 million plant that would be built in Scott County near Scottsburg and could open in 2012, a year after the Milltown plant.

The plants would burn wood waste, corn waste and other material to generate power.

Liberty Green partner Terry Naulty says the company wants to build nine biomass plants in six states including three in Indiana.

He didn't disclose where a third plant might be built in Indiana.
